Cooperative Vitelia U.A. and Cooperative ABZ U.A. (hereinafter referred to as Vitelia and ABZ) will enter into a strategic partnership effective June 3, 2024. By collaborating across multiple areas, the cooperatives aim to better anticipate future developments in the Dutch agricultural sector. This partnership will make more knowledge available to their members and enable them to better anticipate (future) market concepts. The consortium has nationwide coverage, utilizes ten modern feed mills, two storage and transshipment locations, and has a strong presence in the plant-based sector. Together, the two cooperatives produce over 1,325,000 tons of compound feed.
Collaboration is essential
After a careful strategic process in which the pros and cons of various partnerships were weighed, Vitelia approached ABZ Diervoeding to collaborate. Although ABZ recently completed its merger with De Valk Wekerom and is currently in the midst of integration, both cooperatives see strategic benefits for their members. Collaboration is essential because together we can better achieve the right positioning in today’s challenging market. Vitelia is well-organized and a strong player in a region where ABZ has less of a national presence. Vitelia also has a strong presence in the plant and ornamental horticulture sectors, including tree nurseries from its locations in Lottum and Hazerswoude-Dorp.
